Korean cycling team takes bronze in women's Madison relay

 
Korean cyclists took bronze in the women’s Madison contest on Thursday, winning Korea its third cycling track medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
 
The two-person team of Na Ah-reum and Lee Ju-mi scored 27 points, trailing Japan’s 50 and Hong Kong’s 40 in the final round.

Korea entered the Games as the defending champions in women’s Madison, a cycling event that takes place on an indoor track.
 
Think of Madison — said to be named after Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York — as a relay race. Riders take turns going around the track, and each team aims to complete the most number of laps. Cyclists can gain points when they lap an opponent — and lose points when lapped.
 
Na, along with teammate Kim You-ri, defeated Hong Kong and China at the 2018 Asiad in Jakarta, Indonesia but lost that title with a third-place finish.
 
Korean cyclists earlier won two medals on the track. The Korean women’s cycling track team took silver in the sprint on Tuesday and the men’s team pursuit took bronze on Wednesday.
 
The other cycling categories at the Asian Games are BMX racing, mountain bike and road.
