The Olympic flame is lit at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on Tuesday using the sun's rays and then passed to the official torch for the 2024 Gangwon Youth Olympics. The torch was first carried by Greek cross-country skier and biathlete Maria Belli and then passed to Korean figure skater Kim Hyun-gyeom, Greek alpine skier Apostolos Vougioukas and Korean moguls skier Yun Shin-ee before being transferred to a safety lamp and given to Gangwon 2024 Organising Committee Co-president Jin Jong-oh to bring back to Korea.
