Korean wrestler Kim Min-seok beat Naveen of India 5-1 in the men’s Greco-Roman 130-kilogram division bronze medal bout at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Thursday, securing Korea’s second medal in the sport at this year’s Asiad.
The bout took place at Lin’an Sports Culture & Exhibition Centre in Hangzhou, China and Naveen managed one point during the first period, while Kim scored none.
At 1-0, Kim scored one point and managed two points twice during the second period, ending the bout up 5-1 to take bronze.
The bronze was Korea’s second medal in this year’s Asiad wrestling after Chung Han-jae secured bronze in the men’s Greco-Roman 60-kilogram division on Wednesday.
Kim was the only Korean to medal in wrestling on Thursday, with Cheon Mi-ran losing to Zhu Jiang of China in the women’s freestyle 50-kilograms bronze medal bout and Lee Se-yeol also losing the men’s Greco-Roman 97-kilograms bronze medal bout to Tsuruda Takahiro on the same day.
Korea secured eight medals in total in wrestling at the 2018 Asian Games with two gold and six bronze.
The wrestling schedule will continue through Saturday.
