Korea take silver and bronze in women's 87-kilogram weightlifting

Korea added two more medals in weightlifting at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Friday, with Yun Ha-je winning silver and Jung A-ram claiming bronze in the women’s 87-kilogram division.
Yun scored 252 — 107 points in the snatch discipline and 145 in the clean and jerk discipline — to claim silver, falling behind 275 by Liang Xiaomei of China who won gold.
Jung’s total score of 245 — 106 points in the snatch and 139 in the clean and jerk — earned her bronze.
A total of eleven weightlifters competed at Xiaoshan Sports Centre Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.
In weightlifting, final points are calculated by adding the best scores from the “snatch” and “clean and jerk” categories. The snatch is completed in one swift motion while the clean and jerk has two steps: Cleaning the barbell by bringing it to the chest and then lifting it above the head. Each athlete has three attempts at either method.
The two medals from Yun and Jung raised Korea’s medal count in weightlifting at this year’s Asiad to four: One silver and three bronze medals.
At the last Asiad in 2018, Korean weightlifters took five medals: Three silver and two bronze.
The weightlifting schedule will wrap up on Saturday.
