Choi Dong-hoon's 'Alienoid' part two to come out this January
The second part of director Choi Dong-hoon’s fantasy film “Alienoid” will be released in January next year, distributor CJ ENM announced Thursday.
“Alienoid” tells the story of gurus from the late Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) who try to obtain a fabled, holy sword, and humans in the present day who hunt down an alien prisoner locked inside a human body. A time-traveling portal opens up, allowing the two groups to collide.
“Alienoid” boasts an all-star cast, with Kim Woo-bin, Kim Tae-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, So Ji-sub, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Ha-nee and more. The first part of the film, which was released in theaters in July last year, attracted only about 1.54 million viewers.
Director Choi’s previous films have all done well at the box office, with “The Big Swindle” attracting 2.12 million viewers, “Tazza: The High Rollers” 6.84 million, “Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard” 6.13 million, “The Thieves” 12.9 million and “Assassination” 12.7 million.
