Jimin, of boy band BTS, and girl group NewJeans were each nominated for four categories of the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards will be aired live on its social channel on Nov. 19.

Jimin was listed in four categories: Top Selling Song, Top Global K-pop Song, Top Global K-pop Artist and Top K-pop Album with his first solo album “Face,” released on March 24.

NewJeans was nominated for Top Billboard Global Artist (Excl. U.S.), Top Global K-pop Artist, Top K-pop Album and Top Global K-pop Song, just a year after its debut in June 2022.

Girl group Fifty Fifty, which is currently going through a legal battle with its agency, was also listed as a finalist for Top Duo/Group and Top Global K-pop Song.

The three groups are the only Korean groups to be nominated in categories outside of K-pop. Artists nominated in the K-pop section include Blackpink, Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together and Twice.

BTS has consistently taken home Billboard Music awards since 2017, when it was first awarded Top Social Artist.

The group was nominated for seven categories last year and took home three, though the group did not attend the ceremony so it could focus on its new album at the time.

BTS announced a temporary halt in group activities, focusing on their solo careers, in June 2022. The following March, Jimin kicked off his solo career with “Face,” making him the first solo K-pop artist to top Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart.

NewJeans has been one of the biggest names in K-pop since its debut last year with the EP ”New Jeans.” Its hits "Ditto" (2022), "OMG" and "Hype boy" (2022) were the three most-streamed and downloaded songs in the first half of 2023. Its latest and second EP "Get Up," with lead tracks "ETA," "Cool With You" and "Super Shy," topped music charts in and outside of Korea for weeks.
