Korea Music Copyright Association, YouTube hold song camp for Korean songwriters

Korea’s largest music copyright management organization and YouTube jointly held a song camp for Korean songwriters under the title “Komca Healing Song Camp with YouTube Songwriters.”
 
The song camp was held from Wednesday to Friday at the Gapyeong Music Village, also known as Music Village 1939, an entertainment complex in Gyeonggi, with 30 members of the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca) that had applied for the three-day music boot camp.
 
A song camp refers to a project where multiple songwriters come together to create a single song by dividing certain parts of the song and then putting them together or just mixing their songs together. Methods vary for each team, but it is becoming increasingly popular as the pop music market demands higher quality songs be made faster.
 
The 30 participants were divided into six teams of five and were given a mission to create two songs each: a song under the theme of “traveling” and another song to fit the singers assigned to each team.
 
Participants were also given a chance to sit down for consultations with experts from Komca, including chairman Chu Ga-yeoul, vice chairman and singer Park Hakki and more.
 
“The passion and talent that the participants displayed during the three days allowed us to see again the bright future of our music and creative industry,” Chu said.
 
“We aim to hold other diverse programs to help our members in their creative journeys, and we ask for your support.”
