SM Entertainment signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with British entertainment and production company Moon&Back (M&B) and will collaborate to produce a British boy band, the K-pop powerhouse announced Thursday.

The MOU and collaboration between SM and M&B marks the beginning of SM's investments in global music and artist intellectual property rights, SM Entertainment said in a press release Thursday.

London-based M&B was established by producer Nigel Hall, who produced TV shows including “The X Factor” (2004-15) and “Britain’s Got Talent” (2010-20), James Grant Media Group co-founder Russ Lindsay and TV content expert and former CEO of Getty Images Dawn Airey.

SM Entertainment and M&B will each take different roles in the production of the British boy band, with SM providing K-pop related tips such as producing music, music videos and choreography, while M&B will cast the members of the band.

M&B will also roll out a six-episode TV series later next year, showcasing the rise of the new boy band and its members. The show will be aired globally, including in Korea, Britain and the United States.

“We are confident that the TV series will captivate a global music audience with SM Entertainment's creativity and M&B's global entertainment and curatorial expertise,” Russ Lindsay, a Co-Founder of M&B, said in a press release.
