New boy band Waker [HOWLING ENTERTAINMENT]

A new boy band named Waker will debut as the first boy band of the new year, its agency Howling Entertainment said Friday.

The agency announced the sextet's debut, scheduled at 6 p.m. on Jan. 8, on its social media account Friday.

Waker dropped "Dash" on Friday before its debut album release. "Dash" is a blend of trap and pop, composed by Carlyle Fernandes, a producer who has worked on K-pop albums for artists like girl group Red Velvet and boy band Astro.

Waker will consist of members Saebyeol, Ko Hyeon, Kwon Hyeop, Sebum, Leo and Ijun. The band's name "Waker" represents its ambition to stir the hearts of fans through its music, the agency said.

"Experts from various fields have come together to put their effort into Waker's debut album," the agency said. "All the members are diligently preparing for the album in terms of dance, vocals and visuals."
