The Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), under the Ministry of Environment, staged a global social contribution activity in collaboration with the Malaysian Green Technology And Climate Change Corporation.

In Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg Melut elementary school in Malaysia, the corporation conducted environment education covering the climate crisis and supported the establishment of a climate education system.

Students participated in hands-on education such as making photo frames with waste cardboard and eco bags.  They had time to learn about the importance of practicing environmental protection in their daily lives and carbon neutrality, a major climate goal around the globe.

For a better learning environment and energy conservation, classrooms were newly painted with environmentally friendly paint while smart TVs and new science equipment were installed.

The corporation has been consistently promoting various global volunteer activities, such as tree planting in flood-prone areas, installation of rainwater reuse facilities and the establishment of computer classrooms in Southeast Asian countries including Cambodia and Laos since 2012.

“I am especially pleased to provide Malaysian elementary school students with an opportunity to be able to take proactive actions on their own,” Oh Seung-hyuk from the corporation said while participating in the activities.

“As a global environmental specialist organization, our global ESG [Environmental, social, and corporate governance] social contribution will not only raise awareness of environmental protection in the international community but also promote Korea’s environmental policies around the world,” added Ahn Byung-ok, the chairman of the Korea Environmental Corporation.
