Nothing more than a glimpse of this will make you fall in love with it [Photo Essay Contest]

The Korea JoongAng Daily hosted its first photo essay contest for elementary, middle and high school students on the theme: “Promote the beauty of Korea to foreign countries." The contest ran from October to November. Photos containing scenes of traditional culture, family love, places to see and tasty treats in Korea were submitted for the contest.

For people who participated but didn't win a prize:
Eliott Hwang from Providence Christianity School Korea submitted the following photo essay as a elementary school-level entry.

A small country is hidden in a tiny comer of Asia. You might think this country is just a tiny piece of land with nothing to care.

About, but it is not. This country is Korea. The true beauty lies within Seoul. It is called the Han River. Han River is a well-known river. This river is located across from Taebaek Mountains to the Incheon*s sea. This river is approximately 508 km long. But how did 1 gel to know about this river? When 1 went to see the Han River when I was young, I saw dial it was just dull and just like any river. But the second time I came was at night, and 1 saw this spectrum of colors reflecting in the water and I really loved that The story behind the picture I took was that I went to Han River once again and took the magnificent picture with my own hands On the platform where the Han River view can be seen the best.

This picture is a picture of true magnificence. This picture is a view of the Han River from the land, h is truly beautiful when you see the spec tram of colors reflected by the bridge. In this scenery the bridge we are right now looking at is called Mapo bridge. This bridge is one of the shortest bridges in Han river but even though it is short its colours are still vibrant like the other bridges. Right now the Han river might have a very beautiful view but years ago the gorgeous colours  weren’t there. So this means that this river has a long-term history. In the old days, our country was divided into three main kingdoms: Goguryeo, Bekje, and Sinla. These 3 regions always declared war against each other, trying to claim more land. But if one country took over the Han River, then the region that took over would win because the land around the Han River was  the capital city. But why is the Han River the capital city? This is because the river provided natural resources such as fertile soil and from the water, fish and crops. This river is now well known for its flashing lights Han river to me when 1 just see it I really feel the sense of bonny and very thankful to how well the Han river contributed in Korea’s  history.

In conclusion Korea is still a small hidden country in Asia but there is some natural beauty hidden in corners of our country. There is Han river, Jeju island, and many others. But today 1 have informed and told you about Han river but thanks to our latest technology we are still improving Han river’s landscape.
