The album shipped over 250,000 copies as of November, according to the RIAJ.
The RIAJ certifies music based on shipment figures. Singles, EPs or albums earn gold certification for more than 100,000 copies shipped, platinum for 250,000, double platinum for 500,000 and triple platinum for 750,000. Albums that ship one million copies earn a million certifications.
"Golden," released on Nov. 3, is Jungkook's fourth music to be certified by RIAJ. He previously has been certified gold by RIAJ for "Euphoria" (2018), "Left and Right" (2022), which he collaborated with Charlie Puth, and "Seven" featuring American rapper Latto.
"Golden" took over Japan's Oricon charts soon after it was released, according to his agency. The album debuted at No. 1 on Oricon's Daily Album chart, selling 205,961 copies right after its release.
Jungkook will start his mandatory military service on Tuesday, along with his bandmate Jimin. The other remaining members who have not begun their service — RM and V — will start the day before Jungkook and Jimin.
