CNBLUE announces first Asian tour in seven years

Rock band CNBLUE will continue its “CNBLUENTITY” concert across Asia, the band’s agency, FNC Entertainment, said Friday.

CNBLUE will kick off the tour with a performance in Hong Kong on March 16, followed by concerts in Bangkok, Thailand on March 23; Kaohsiung City, Taiwan on April 13; and Kuala Lumpur on April 20. The tour will end in Singapore on April 27.

The upcoming concert will begin the band’s first Asian tour in seven years, following its 2017 concert “2017 CNBLUE Live [Between Us].”

It is not, however, its first Korean concert under this name. CNBLUE held a “CNBLUENTITY” concert on Oct. 7 and 8 at the Olympic Hall in southern Seoul last year. Those were the band’s first Korean concerts in six years.

“CNBLUENTITY” is a combination of the band’s name, CNBLUE with “identity” and indicates that the concert encapsulates the band's identity, according to FNC Entertainment.

CNBLUE debuted as a four-member rock band in 2010, with its first EP, “Bluetory,” rising to fame for its lead track, “Loner.” The quartet released indie albums in Japan its Korean debut.

Former member Lee Jong-hyun left the band in 2019 following allegations of involvement in the Burning Sun scandal and sending inappropriate messages on Instagram. CNBLUE restructured itself as a three-member band and dropped its eighth EP, “Re-Code,” and ninth EP, “Wanted,” in 2020 and 2021, respectively. It also released Japanese singles in 2021 and 2022.
