President Yoon lunches with Netflix co-CEO and 'Squid Game' star Lee Jung-jae

President Yoon Suk Yeol invited Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and actor Lee Jung-jae of the megahit Netflix original series “Squid Game” (2021) to the presidential residence for lunch on Saturday, the presidential office announced Sunday.
 
Sarandos shared the progress of Netflix’s $2.5 billion investment into Korean content announced last year with Yoon. The president expressed gratitude for the streaming service’s rapid and large investment and requested the continued and increased funding of K-content.

Yoon and Sarandos met at the White House during the president’s state visit to the United States on April 24, 2023, and the co-CEO promised to make the $2.5 billion investment into Korean content over the following four years.
 
Yoon and Sarandos discussed the development of the Korea-U.S. cultural alliance, particularly through the combination of Korean content and U.S. global streaming platforms.
