Comedian Lee Su-geun signed with Big Planet Made as the first comedic act in the entertainment company’s expansion into comedic talent management and media production.

Big Planet Made announced its contract with Lee in a press release on Monday.

“We will give all our support toward all-rounder entertainer Lee Su-geun so that he can show off a multifaceted version of himself to the audience,” the company said.

Lee’s contract with Big Planet Made comes after Kim Dong-joon, the previous co-CEO of SM Culture & Contents, joined the company as its CEO in December last year. With Kim's recruitment, the company announced its plans to expand content production as well as show host management.

Kim was a longtime employee under SM Culture & Contents, a talent management and television content production subsidiary under SM Entertainment’s SM Studios. Lee and Kim have known each other for 19 years, according to the company.

Lee also has a long working relationship with producer Kim Si-kyu, currently on the board of advisers for Big Planet Made’s parent company One Hundred, a company that rapper MC Mong cofounded in 2023. Kim is the producer behind multiple KBS reality-variety shows including “Happy Sunday” (2004-2019) and “Happy Together” (2001-2020).

Lee started his comedy career in 2003. He is known for his regular appearances on hit comedy shows including tvN’s “New Journey to the West” (2015-2020), KBS’s “2 Days & 1 Night” (2007-) and “Gag Concert” (1999-) and Channel A’s “The Fishermen and the City” (2017-2022). He is currently part of the cast on JTBC’s “Knowing Bros” (2015-) and is the co-host of KBS Joy’s “Mueos-Ideun Mul-Eobosal” (2019-).

Big Planet Made also houses soloist singers Huh Gak, Ha Sung-woon, Ren and Lee Mu-jin and girl group Viviz. Lee is the first professional comedian to sign with the label.
