"Fame doesn't win football games. If it did, I would have brought in a famous retired player."

Lingard, 31, moved to FC Seoul last month on a two-year deal with the option of a third year. He spent most of his career at Manchester United and was on the books with the Premier League club from 2011 through 2022, making 232 appearances during which he recorded 35 goals and 21 assists.

Since making his FC Seoul debut earlier this month, Lingard has yet to put in the type of performances which saw him win 32 caps for England.

Daejeon Hana Citizen and Gangwon FC, meanwhile, both failed to win their first game of the season after a 1-1 draw in a clash in Daejeon.
