Hyundai steps up to the plate as 2024 MLB Seoul Series sponsor

Los Angeles Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani will take Hyundai Motor's hydrogen-powered bus for games in Korea. 
 
If he is the first player to hit a home run at the 2024 MLB Seoul Series, which starts in Seoul on Wednesday, he may win an Ioniq 5.

These are just a few offerings by Hyundai Motor, which has been named an official sponsor of the MLB World Tour. The tour features regular MLB season games played in various countries, with stops this year in Korea, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Britain.
 
The Seoul games will be played at the city's Gocheok Sky Dome in western Seoul, where the Dodgers and the San Diego Padres will face off on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hyundai Motor said it will offer six Universe hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses for team transportation.
 
The company will also provide a fleet of official vehicles for the series, including the Genesis GV80, Ioniq 5 and Staria models.
 
The player who hits the first home run in the opening game on Wednesday will be awarded an Ioniq 5 model, Hyundai said. 
 
Hyundai has also exhibited an Ioniq 5 wrapped in the logo and colors of the two MLB teams at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
 
"Hyundai Motor is excited to participate in the MLB World Tour Seoul Series, the first MLB games to be held in Korea," said Jee Sung-won, global chief marketing officer at Hyundai Motor. "This is the first time hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles have been deployed as official transportation in MLB history, and we will continue to lead the way as a first mover in the mobility industry."
