Nexon, a Tokyo-listed game publisher, appointed two new co-CEOs for its Korea operations as the now former-CEO of Nexon Korea became the head of the company’s headquarters in Japan.
Kang Dae-hyun, Nexon Korea’s former chief operating officer, and Kim Jung-wook, the chief communications officer, have been approved at the general shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday to share the top post.
Nexon Korea’s former CEO, Lee Jung-hun, was appointed as the president and CEO of Nexon on the same day.
It’s the first time in 14 years since Nexon Korea appointed two co-CEOs to lead the company since it was headed by Seo Min and Kang Shin-cheol between 2009 and 2010.
Kim worked at the JoongAng Ilbo before joining Nexon in 2013. He served as the executive vice president of corporate culture and external affairs at Nexon Korea from 2015, and then became the head of communications the following year. He served as the chairman of Nexon Foundation since 2018 and CCO of the company since 2020. In that capacity, Kim oversaw Nexon’s social contributions, human resources, public relations and other management support.
Kang joined Nexon in 2004 and headed game development, publishing and operations through 2020, when he was appointed the COO of the company. In that position, he established business strategies for gaming and service operations for Nexon Korea.
