President Yoon Suk Yeol cast his ballot in Busan on Friday as Korea began its two-day early voting for next week's general election.
 
Yoon participated in early voting at a polling station in a welfare center in Busan's Gangseo District around 11:00 a.m. while visiting the port city, according to the presidential office.

Early voting for the April 10 parliamentary elections is taking place on Friday and Saturday at 3,565 polling stations nationwide. Turnout for early voting was high as of Friday morning.
 
Many political leaders, including conservative People Power Party (PPP) interim chief Han Dong-hoon, liberal Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Lee Jae-myung and former President Moon Jae-in, opted to cast their ballots in advance on Friday, ahead of election day Wednesday.  
 
On Thursday, Yoon encouraged the nation to participate in early voting.
 
"Voting is not only a sovereign's exercise of their rights but also their duty," Yoon was quoted as saying by his spokesperson Kim Soo-kyung. "I ask each and every person to exercise their sovereign power."
 
Ahead of the presidential election, Yoon, as a PPP candidate, also voted in advance at Nam District in Busan in the midst of campaigning on March 4, 2022.
