North Gyeongsang creates website for foreign job seekers
North Gyeongsang opened the K-Dream Center for Foreigners website to connect foreign nationals with jobs in the region, hosting various career information sessions to celebrate the launch.
The province announced it is hosting a career and visa information session on Thursday to celebrate the website's launch. The K-Dream Center for Foreigners website opened as a beta version on April 1.
The session will explain Korea's work culture and how to apply for the F-2-R regional specialized residency visa. Hiring managers from 12 companies in the province will also be attending, holding job interviews for attendees.
Further sessions will be held on April 17 and 18, with more scheduled in May. People can sign up for sessions via the center's website.
Apart from hosting career information sessions, the website will focus on connecting foreign nationals with employment opportunities in North Gyeongsang.
Foreigners who wish to get a job at companies based in the province can upload information such as their education, fields they wish to work in, Korean proficiency level and past work experience to the website.
The center will then connect users with companies willing to hire people.
According to North Gyeongsang, it will be focusing on connecting job seekers to companies that offer the F-2-R visa.
The F-2-R visa allows foreigners to reside in Korea for five years. However, visa holders are required to live and work in certain areas designated by the government, which are areas seeing a big population decline. In North Gyeongsang, 15 regions such as Andong, Yeongju and Yeongcheon are part of the list.
Some 156 job seekers uploaded their information to the website and 17 companies reached out to the center to seek talent.
The physical office of the K-Dream Center for Foreigners, given the same name and also operated by the province, opened at the Gumi Business Center building in Gumi, North Gyeongsang, in January.
