Universities such as Pusan National University (PNU) and Yonsei University are starting their summer school for international students.

PNU announced Tuesday that it held an orientation session for 37 international students participating in the 2024 PNU Summer School program.

The summer school program will run until July 26, offering courses that teach Korean language and Korean studies. Students will also visit various tourist areas in Busan, such as Haeundae Beach, Gamcheon Culture Village and Bupyeong Kkangtong Market.

The program is open to all international students who have completed at least one semester, offering three course credits at their home university.

Students in the Buddy Program, which connects Korean students to international students to offer guidance, will also participate in the summer school to help attendees.

"The PNU Summer School will allow us to introduce Pusan National University to international students, while allowing them to experience Korea's unique culture," said Yang Min-jong, a professor at the university's Department of Russian Language.

Yonsei University is another school that began its summer program.

This year's Yonsei International Summer School started on June 27. The program has four-week and six-week editions, which are different for each of the courses students sign up for.

Students can choose from around 100 courses that cover various areas such as Korean studies, business or sciences, along with Korean language-learning courses. Each course is worth three credits, and students can take up to three courses during the program. Internships at local companies will also be offered to around 80 students that are enrolled in the Yonsei Summer Internship Program course.

Apart from academics, students will also participate in Korean cooking classes, K-pop dance classes and visit the demilitarized zone.
