Kyungnam University announced Tuesday it is offering online startup courses for its international students.

The university opened the KU Oasis online startup course, which will introduce international students to the Overall Assistance for Start-up Immigration System (Oasis) visa program. The Oasis program offers classes that allow foreign nationals to get the points they need to qualify for the D-8-4 startup visa.

The online course will also teach students how to establish their own business in Korea.

International students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at Kyungnam University are eligible to take the online courses, which will be open until June 26.

Students can apply for the course through the university's E-class system. As the course is an online class, there is no quota and students can sign up anytime before June 26.

According to the university, the course was created on behalf of the Kyungnam Regional Innovation System & Education (RISE) program, which aims to have more students staying in non-Seoul areas.

"We started offering the course in line with the Kyungnam RISE program, aiming to invite more international students and find new potential entrepreneurs," said Kim Seung-hyun, head of the university's startup center. "We plan to offer more support to encourage more people to get the Oasis startup visa."
