Pearl Abyss approved to operate games in China, including Black Desert
Korean game publisher Pearl Abyss received approval from China’s National Press and Publication Administration to operate 15 titles in the country, including its popular mobile game Black Desert.
Pearl Abyss confirmed that it received the green light from Chinese regulators on Thursday. Its massively multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG) Black Desert is the publisher’s most well-known title that debuted in Korea in 2015. The game has been translated into 12 languages and has 5 million global users.
Pearl Abyss announced last month that it signed a deal with leading Chinese game company Tencent to operate the MMORPG in China.
The game was introduced at the game conference Spark 2024 in May, where Tencent introduced its new lineups for the year.
