K-beauty exports up 20.8% from last year

Korean beauty exports shipped between January and May this year amounted to $4.4 billion, an increase of 20.8 percent from the same period last year, according to Statistics Korea on Thursday.
The products were shipped to over 170 countries this year. China remained the largest market for Korean cosmetics, buying $1.5 billion worth of beauty products, but this was an 11.6 percent on-year decrease. The U.S. market, on the other hand, increased by 67.8 percent on year to $720 million. U.S. exports reached over $1 billion for the first time last year.
