Jesse Lingard gets first goal for FC Seoul

Jesse Lingard scored his first goal for FC Seoul on Wednesday, bagging a penalty in the 56th minute to kick off a 2-0 win over Gangwon FC while also donning the captain's armband.

Ryu Jae-moon added No. 2 for Seoul in the 56th minute, giving the club its second straight league win after beating Suwon FC 3-0 over the weekend.

Lingard was given the captain's armband on June 16 for a 2-2 draw against Ulsan HD, leaving him without a loss after three games at the helm.

The British midfielder joined Seoul earlier this year in a widely publicized move, but a mixture of injuries and a struggle to adapt left him sidelined for the first few months of the season.

Manager Kim Gi-dong, who had previously criticized Lingard for not putting in enough effort, appears to have changed his tune completely, backing Lingard's experience and willing to step up as captain while Ki Sung-yueng is out with an injury.
