Boy band Seventeen has sold over a million copies of its older albums this year, music sales tracker Circle Chart reported Monday.

According to the report, Seventeen albums released before 2024 sold over 1.08 million copies from Jan. 1 to July 6. Seventeen is the first K-pop artist this year to surpass selling a million copies of older albums, according to the boy band’s agency, Pledis Entertainment. Last year, Seventeen sold approximately 4.2 million copies of older albums.

Sales of older albums are considered an indicator of how many new fans have joined the fandom. Consumers who purchase an artist's older albums are generally viewed as new fans.

Seventeen’s compilation album “17 Is Right Here” (2023) and subunit Jeonghan X Wonwoo’s first single “This Man” (2023) each recorded the highest first-week sales in K-pop history for a compilation album and a subunit album, respectively.

“17 Is Right Here” sold more than 2.9 million copies and “This Man” sold over 780,000 copies in their first week, according to Pledis Entertainment.

Seventeen recorded over 5.3 million album sales in the first half of this year. Last year, Seventeen’s cumulative album sales reached 16 million copies.

Seventeen will hold their eighth fan meet-and-greet, “SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND,” on July 23 and 24 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro District, western Seoul.
