Shin Yu-bin loses women's singles bronze medal match to Hina Hayata of Japan

Korea’s Shin Yu-bin missed out on a medal in the women’s table tennis singles on Saturday, losing 4-2 to Hina Hayata of Japan in the bronze medal match at Paris Arena in Paris.
 
Shin, 20, took the first game of the hotly-contested match 11-9, but slipped behind Hayata 13-11 in the second. The Japanese player took the third game 12-10 and the forth 11-7, before Shin rallied to win the fifth 12-10. Hayata fought back in the sixth, taking it 11-7 to secure a 4-2 win.

With the loss, Shin misses out on the individual podium in Paris, but is still guaranteed to leave the Games with a bronze medal to her name from the mixed doubles.

Shin’s Olympics is not over yet. Having competed in the mixed doubles and singles events, Shin will now return to Paris Arena on Monday for the start of the women’s team event.
