Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo held a conference with trade experts Thursday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation with India to address lingering challenges, including supply chain disruptions, the Trade Ministry said.
Cheong's meeting with officials from state-run organizations came amid growing uncertainties in the global trade environment due to escalating tensions between the United States and China, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
"Despite the high potential for cooperation in various areas with India, including trade, investment and supply chains, progress has been sluggish," Cheong said during the session.
"South Korea plans to revamp existing cooperation frameworks and pursue a new phase in economic and trade collaboration with India," Cheong added.
During the meeting, participants also emphasized India's importance as a key strategic partner, noting that Korea should seek bilateral cooperation in the digital and advanced manufacturing industries, among other areas.
