Ninety-seven Koreans and their families were evacuated from Lebanon amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, using a military transport aircraft.
The government discussed plans Monday for a potential emergency evacuation of Korean nationals in Lebanon as the escalating conflict between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah is raising fears of a full-scale war in the region.
Approximately 180 Koreans entered Israel to attend a religious event, sources said Monday, amid escalating tensions following a major missile exchange in the region.
Tthere are currently around 170 Korean nationals in Lebanon. On Thursday, 18 Koreans were evacuated from Israel after boarding a flight provided by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
