A bill mandating union representatives be seated on the boards of public companies passed the main floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday.
On Wednesday. ruling Democratic Party lawmakers on the Strategy and Finance Committee pushed through a bill dictating that a union representative must be included on public institutions’ boards of directors.
The combined operating profit of 36 state-owned companies have fallen 70 percent since 2016’s 8.3 trillion won, according to data compiled by People Power Party lawmaker Choo Kyung-ho.
