Political Arena Shaken By Lee Hoi Sung"s Arrest

The political arena is rapidly turning into a battlefield following the arrest of Lee Hoi Sung, the younger brother of Lee Hoi Chang, president of the opposition Grand National Party (GNP).
The ruling party is deservedly worried about the fall-out caused by the arrest of Lee Hoi Sung.
The ruling party needs to maintain a working relationship with the opposition so as to effectively address a host of impending issues including regulation reform bills and the opening of economic hearings. They want to avoid further stalemates. They previously professed to end antagonisms by consulting more with the opposition party.
The highly publicized arrest naturally offended the GNP, who responded by stating that this action is part of the continued plot to malign the opposition party.
Chong Wa Dae is cautiously observing the incident and has said very little about the case.
Park Jie Won commented on December 11, ' The arrest of Mr. Lee is solely a judicial matter. There is no need to comment on the incident politically.'
