Special Prosecutor System to be Introduced at Last

The ruling National Congress for New Politics (NCNP) has decided to introduce a 'Special Prosecutor System', while the opposition Grand National Party (GNP) has proposed two-party presidential talks.
The NCNP concluded Tuesday at an executive meeting to establish a new Special Prosecutor System in order to investigate the comments of the former head of the Public Security Department, Chin Hyung Gu, on inducing a strike.
The spokesman of the NCNP, Lee Yung Il, said, 'We plan to introduce a Special Prosecutor System, as the prosecution's self-investigation can cast doubt on the credibility of investigation result. We think that the parliamentary probe on the case can progress simultaneously, independently of the trial.'
Details on the special law bill will be finalized quickly following the agreement between the two parties - in the event that the GNP accept the proposal.
The President of the GNP, Lee Hoi Chang, urged that 'The presidents of ruling and opposition parties should meet to seek measures to counter the serious standoff in the West Sea. The Kumgang Mountain tours, the provision of fertilizer and the vice-ministerial talks should be stopped as this crisis was brought about by the government's ill-thought-out 'Sunshine Policy'.'
