Internet Crimes Grow Rapidly
Computer crimes through the Internet have been increasing rapidly.According to a police source Tuesday, 'cyber crimes' made up only 349 cases in 1998, but grew to 1,076 as of July this year.
However, hacking, viruses and database fabrication have barely increased.
As users of the Internet and personal computers increase, fraud through online shopping malls which fail to deliver goods after receiving money from customers is on the up.
Illegal account transfers on Internet banks and lewd spam mailing including connecting prostitution rings through cyber space are also becoming more common.
The police is now considering increasing personnel in order to combat these cyber crimes.
