ULD President Nominated for Prime Minister

President Kim Dae-jung has nominated United Liberal Democrat (ULD) party president Lee Han-dong to replace disgraced former prime minister Park Tae-joon. The president has also requested that the National Assembly agree to Lee Han-dong's appointment to the post.

Chong Wa Dae chief secretary Han Kwang-ok announced that President Kim nominated ULD president Lee Han-dong for prime minister in the hopes of forming a joint administration with the ULD. Han added that "honorary ULD president Kim Jong-pil has also nominated Lee Han-dong for the position."

Han explained that Lee Han-dong was nominated because the ULD president has experience in areas like politics, economics, and administration. "We expect that Lee will contribute greatly to the management of this new joint administration, as well as contribute to Korea taking its place among the advanced nations in the 21st century."
