10 Vice Ministers and Vice Minister Rank Officials Were Newly selected

President Kim Dae-jung appointed former Financial Supervisory Commission vice-chairman Lee Jung-jae to be the new vice-minister of Finance and Economy on August 11. Lee replaces vice-minister Uhm Rak-yong who was transferred to Korea development bank

Lee Jung-jae's post as vice-chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission will be filled by the former director of Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) Jung Keun-yon. Moon Il-sub, head of the military procurement office, will succeed Park Yong-wok as vice-minister of the Ministry of National Defense.

Meanwhile Chang Seok-joon, the Officer of Planning and Budget, will succeed Lee Jong-yoon as vice-minister of Health and Welfare.

Kang Ghil-boo, chairman of the Korea Appraisal Board, is the new vice-minister of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation succeeding Kang Yoon-mo, while Kim Byung-il, former Supply Administrator, is the new vice-chairman of the Ministry of Planning and Budget.

Succeeding the position of Lee Nam -kee is Kim Byung-il, the head official of the Korean Fair Trade Commission, is now the vice minister of Korean Fair Trade Commission.

For the position of the Administrator of Korean Industrial Property Office, where Oh Kang-hyun had formerly seated, Leem Lea-gue, deputy of Korean Industrial Property Office, is promoted. Yang-Kyu-hwan, the chief of National Poison Research Center, is promoted to the administrator of Food and Drug Administration.

Uhm Rak-yong, who withdrew from the position of the minister of Finance and Economy, is seated as the Governor of the Korea Development Bank (KDB).

Chong Wa Dae spokesman Park Joon-young said, "We mostly have reflected the opinions of the chiefs of each ministry when selecting the vice-ministers."
