Revision of National Security Law to Be Discussed Soon

Ruling Millennium Democratic Party Chairman Suh Young-hoon said on August 25 that "in order to enhance the atmosphere of peaceful coexistence between South and North Korea and to enlarge exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, the National Security Law should be revised at the general session of the National Assembly in September with an agreement by both ruling and opposition parties."

Suh held a press conference to launch the second half of the current administration and spoke on changes in inter-Korean affairs, saying that the special commission on South-North relations, which was proposed by GNP President Lee Hoi-chang, should be formed immediately in the National Assembly.

Regarding the delayed start of the National Assembly this year, Suh says that the operation of the National Assembly should be "normalized without any preconditions in order to resolve urgent issues, including a supplementary budget and the public welfare."

Suh went on to propose that ruling and opposition parties should meet with the secretary generals, floor leaders and chief policymakers, to discuss the above issues.
