U.S. Visit Weighed By Foreign Minister
With a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to South Korea unlikely next month, the government is looking into an earlier than expected visit by Foreign Minister Han Seung-soo to Washington, possibly in June."We have been negotiating with the United States to prepare a visit by Colin Powell to South Korea, but the visit has become difficult, as Mr. Powell has to attend the Congress prior to the opening of fiscal year in June, and also to be present for the Russian foreign minister's visit to the United States May 17-18," a senior government official said.
Mr. Powell had planned to visit in May as part of a trip to Northeast Asian countries, but that trip now appears to be off.
