Mexican President Confers With Kim
President Kim Dae-jung met with visiting Mexican President Vicente Fox on Monday and agreed to strengthen cooperation in modernizing Mexico's refinery and shipping industries, and in promoting information technology."President Fox has requested cooperation from South Korea on his government's plan to transform the nation into 'e-Mexico,' as Korea leads in information technology including the CDMA mobile phone technology," a presidential spokesman said.
The two agreed in a nine-point statement to set up a "21st Century Council of South Korea and Mexico," as a mechanism through which bilateral relations can grow. They also agreed that South Korea should participate in the Puebla-Panama Plan, a development of six Central and South American nations.
