Financial Certificate Planned

A new certification system for evaluating credit risks will be introduced in 2002, the Financial Supervisory Service said Wednesday.

The supervisory agency said it decided to award persons who assess a company's capacity in serving debts or analyze and manage credit risks the credential "certified credit risk analysts" if they pass certain tests. Certification holders are expected to work for financial companies or credit rating firms.

Since the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the focus in evaluating a company's credit has shifted from past performance to future risk analysis, but such specialists are in short supply, the agency said.
