Business data a phone call away
Effective today, Koreans can use their cell phones to get information about individual businesses that are registered with the National Tax Service. “The system, which allows taxpayers to ask for information about their business partners, will relieve them of the inconvenience of visiting tax offices each time they need such information,” an agency official said yesterday. But if you want to use the system, you will have to invest in one of the newer cell phones that allow wireless Internet access. Then you can connect to the tax service’s inquiries division. By punching in a business’s registration number over the phone, information on an individual business and reports of business suspensions or cessations can be retrieved.
