Samsung outselling mobile rivals in Russia

Samsung Electronics outpaced Nokia and Motorola in first-quarter mobile phone sales in Russia, the Korean company said yesterday. According to a Russian market research institute, Mobile Research Group, Samsung Electronics cellular phones had sales of 167 million euros ($200 million) in the first quarter ― nearly one and a half times the sales of Nokia, which were 118 million euros. Mobile Research Group said that Samsung’s high-end brand strategy contributed to boosting sales. Samsung’s mobile phone prices are 20 percent higher than those of Nokia and 70 percent higher than those of Motorola.
