LG finds satisfied customers in U.S.

LG Electronics Inc., the world’s fourth-largest mobile phone maker, tied Sanyo Electric Co. for first place in a U.S. survey of customer satisfaction with mobile phones. J.D. Power and Associates, a global marketing information services firm, said in a press release yesterday that mobile phones from LG were particularly highly rated in design and the duration of their batteries. The study measured satisfaction among 17,000 U.S. customers who have owned their mobile phones for less than two years. The survey covered five areas: physical design, operation, features, handset durability and battery function. A spokesman for LG said, “LG has the largest share in mobile phones with wideband code division multiple access in the U.S. market.” According to J.D. Power and Associates, there has been a major shift in attitudes since 2003, with customers now more concerned with handset design and ease of use. Another trend the study tracked is changes in the design of mobile phone handsets. Apparently, manufacturers are increasingly moving away from the candy bar-shape design in favor of the clamshell design. by Seo Ji-eun
