Samsung SDI unveils denser renewable battery cell
Samsung SDI, a producer of rechargeable batteries, introduced a 111-ampere-hour battery cell for high-capacity energy storage systems at Energy Storage Europe, an international conference for renewable energy devices in Dusseldorf, Germany.The 111-ampere-hour cell is similar in size to its predecessor 94-ampere-hour cell, but the company was able to increase its energy density by 18 percent using enhanced materials, Samsung SDI said.
The company also introduced a high-capacity energy storage system powered by the new battery cell at the exhibition. Samsung SDI says it sees immense potential in the energy storage business and plans to more aggressively target global markets.
