Hanjin Heavy partners with Filipino construction firm

Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction said Thursday that it has inked a strategic partnership with a Filipino construction company to win infrastructure projects in the Southeast Asian country.

The Korean shipbuilding and construction company said it seeks to win construction orders in the Philippines, where the government is expected to launch 200 trillion won ($171 billion) worth of infrastructure projects, in partnership with EEI Corporation.

The partnering company is the biggest builder in the Philippines and has completed various construction projects including airports and railway systems.

As the first Korean construction company to move into the Philippines, Hanjin Heavy said it plans to use the partnership as a means to increase its presence in the country.
