15-Year-Old Boy Charged with Subway Attack on Old Man

Seoul Namdaemun Police Station on Sept. 14 requested a warrant for the arrest of a junior high school third grader, known only as Lee, for seriously injuring an old man who scolded him for not offering him a seat on the subway.

On Sept. 13, at the City Hall subway stop, 15-year-old Lee took offense at the elderly man, known only as Yom (77), when he said, "Students these days don't know how to offer seats to old men."

Yom then left the train and began to make his way towards the subway number 2 line. When about to go down the stairs, Lee kicked him in the back, causing him to fall down the stairs.

Yom's brain was severly injured as a result, and he fell into a coma. Although he has received brain surgery in hospital, he is still in critical condition.

"I couldn't control my temper when he told me off for not offering him a seat," confessed Lee.
