Construction of 'Peace Park' to Begin in October

The construction of the 'Peace Park,' which will be located directly in front of the World-Cup Stadium in Sangan-Dong, Seoul, will begin in October.
The city of Seoul stated on August 1 that the construction of the park is expected to take 19 months and will be completed in April of 2002. The park will contain a 16,500 square meter pond, a 468 meter long stream, 'The Forest of Hope' which will cover 165,000 square meters, 'the Door of One Thousand Years' which is 200 meters tall, a 4 meter wide, 84 meter long bridge that will pass over the park, an outdoor gallery, and a 1,700 car parking lot.
The Peace Park combined with the 775,500 square meter Nanji Han River Park, 293,700 square meter Nanjichun Park, 191,400 square meter Ecology Park, and 339,900 square meter Environment Caring Public Golf Course will form the Millennium Park which will cover 3,630,000 square meters around the World-Cup stadium.
