Korea and Japan established the 'Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Committee', an organization to promote cultural and artistic interchanges between the two countries, on June 18.
The committee will hold an annual general conference and seek for ways to activate exchanges in the cultural sector, while discussing Korea's opening of its pop-culture market to Japan.
Korean President Kim Dae Jung and Japanese Prime Minister Obuchi Keizo had agreed to organize a civilian committee during their summit talk in March.
Ten members each from the culture and art world in both countries will sit on the committee.
