Neolithic Settlement Excavated
The site of a stone age settlement was recently found. It is presumed to be the oldest such discovered site in South Korea, surpassing the one at Osan-ri in the East Sea area.Team members from the National Cultural Assets Research Institute on April 22 announced, 'After four months of excavation, begun last December, we have found remains at Munam-ri that included earthenware produced during the stone age. The dwelling site is even deepeer than the ones at Osanri, so we expect this find is the oldest neolithic site in South Korea so far uncovered.'
