Seoul International Short Film Festival

The 2nd Seoul International Short Film Festival will be held at the Core Art Hall located in Chongno from June 9 to June 20. Over 100 domestic and foreign short films, produced over the last two years, will be screened during the festival's run. This year, the festival will feature films focusing on life in the city.

The Festival will give moviegoers an opportunities to reflect on the meaning of life in a modern city by featuring films set Seoul, New York, Toronto, and Paris.

The festival will open with the Japanese short "I Hired a Contract Killer" directed by Aki Kaurismaki and will close with the movie voted most popular by spectators.

The French Retrospective section will be of especial interest to movie fans as many masterpieces will be screened including; "Histoire d' eau" by Francoise Truffaut and "Amour Existe" by Maurice Pialat.

In related news, The Independent Film & Video Makers' Forum 2000 will be held at Artsonje Center (02-733-8945) from May 27th to June 4th.

The indie festival will showcase 36 short & experimental films including "Her Story" by Yi Ji-sang as well as 16 documentary films produced in Korea. A small number of animated films will also be shown at the festival.

In the foreign movie section, 14 masterpieces will be shown including all films nominated for awards at the International Short Film Festival as well as five short films shown at the Japanese Representative Experimental Film Festival.

Also a seminar will be held on the subject of "Experimental Films in the Digital Age" and a workshop will be held to exchange information between independent movie directors and digital businesses.
