&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Taxi driver failed to aid rider in need

I am a university lecturer who has returned to Korea after seven years of studying abroad. A little while ago, I got on a taxi at the Seoul airport terminal, on the way back from an international seminar. When I got home, I couldn’t find my laptop computer. Since I had it until the ride, I was sure that I had left it in the car. Although I was in a panic at first, the name card that the driver gave me with the saying “come again” flashed through my mind, and I phoned to the driver.
The taxi driver replied that “There is no such thing like a portable computer left in the car.” As both the computer and the important data in it were missing, I pleaded that “I clearly had it until I got in the car. Please look for it.” But, the answer was that he didn’t see it. I also phoned the taxi company, but all I heard was an insincere reply of “solve it with the driver.”
Public transportation service should be enhanced before touting “Welcome to Korea.”
